Swimming Lessons
About
One-on-one or semi-private instruction for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Lessons are scheduled based on pool, instructor, and the participant availability.

Complete our with your preferences. An instructor will reach out to schedule directly with you.
Private Lesson Fees
- $18 for 30 minutes
- $36 for 60 minutes
Pay at the Student Recreation Center Front Desk. We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay, or Apple Pay. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to pay and bring your lesson slip to the pool.
Cancellations
If your swimmer is sick or you need to reschedule, notify your instructor as soon as possible. Repeated no-shows or rescheduling may result in dismissal.
Group Lessons
We are not offering group lessons at this time.
Good to Know
- Pool temperature is ~85°F (deck ~78–80°F).
- Non-toilet-trained children must wear swim diapers (available for $2 at the front desk).
- Parents may observe private lessons from the deck or balcony.
- Rec Center members can bring dependent children for free during Family Hours.
Bengal Buddies Swim Team
June 9 - August 6
Bengal Buddies is a recreational swim team focused on fun, swimming skills, and being part of a team. Participants will improve technique and endurance while learning the basics of competitive swimming in a positive, encouraging environment.
Prerequisites
- Ages 4-16
- Comfortable in deep water
- Able to swim about 15 yards in any style
- Attains back float independently anywhere in the pool
Schedule
Practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons June 9th through August 6th.
- Ages 4-8, 3:15-4 PM
- Ages 9-16, 4-5 PM
Swim meets are OPTIONAL and will be held in place of regular practice on July 14 and August 6 from 4-6 PM.
Cost
Fee includes the 9-week program, swim meet entries, tshirt, and swim cap. Payments must be made to ISU Recreation and Wellness by June 12, 2026
- Community: $150
- ISU Affiliates: $120 (for dependents of current students, faculty, staff, or members of the ISU Alumni Association)
